Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Saturday that the state government was working to include yoga in school courses and public health initiatives, highlighting its role in promoting a healthy, self -sufficient and skilled India.
Speaking at a state-level program for International Yoga Day at Kalinga Stadium, Majhi insisted that yoga is more than a physical exercise; It activates body, mind and soul.
The event organized by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs of Odisha saw the attendance of more than 10,000 people, including ministers, MPs, bureaucrats, students and women.
“In Odisha, we are providing yoga to all. We organize awareness campaigns on yoga in schools, colleges, hostels and sports centers. We can also include yoga in school courses and public health programs,” the Chief Minister said.
Majhi said that these awareness programs encourage people to live a healthy life.
While yoga has been a long -running practice in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave it international recognition after assuming office in 2014. His efforts declared the United Nations as International Yoga Day.
The Chief Minister reiterated that yoga is “not only a physical exercise, but there is something that keeps the body, mind and soul active.”
“Yoga is a medium to achieve physical, intellectual, mental and spiritual fulfillment. It is beneficial for the human body,” he said.
This year’s International Yoga Day subject, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’ underlines the internal link between personal welfare and the health of the planet.
“It indicates that ancient yoga practice nourishes the body and brain not only the body and the brain and promotes a harmonious lifestyle that respects all living beings,” said Majhi.
During the incident, the Department of Culture performed the traditional Gotipu dance.
Famous sand artist and Padma Shri Award winner Sudarshan Pattanik made a sculpture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sand by demonstrating utrasana (Camel Pose) on Puri Beach.
