Dr. Sood shared ‘5 major benefits of Tulsi’:
1. Stress and cortisol may be reduced
As an adapteogen, basil helps the body to handle stress. In a placebo-controlled study, cortisol (stress hormone) was low in the Holy Tulsi participants and slept better in eight weeks. He also showed more stable heart rate and blood pressure under stress.
2. Possibly balances blood sugar
Holy basil can help the body use insulin more effectively, which can help reduce blood sugar levels after fasting and food. It can also slow down how soon the carbs are absorbed.
3. Supports heart health
