Amidst the ongoing Tariff War, US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he was confident that he could make a “very good” deal on business with China, as Beijing also indicated his intentions to open a dialogue to discuss the tariff.
Trump commented a few hours after claiming that ‘China wants to meet’, while the Italian Prime Minister sitting with Georgia Meloni, who was in Washington to interact on Tariff.
“Oh, we are going to do a deal,” Trump said in response to a reporter’s question about taking a phone to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“I think we are going to make a great deal with China,” said the US President.
Even though Trump has stopped its tariffs against several countries including India for 90 days, China faces 245 percent tariffs on imports to the US, after the retaliation of Beijing’s retaliation to implement 125 percent of the levy against American imports.
Earlier in the day, giving updates about his ‘very productive’ call with the President of Mexico through his true social account, Trump claimed, “Every country including China wants to meet! Today, Italy!”
Meanwhile, China has stated that it is in “working-level communication” with the US over a deadlock over its high-intensity tariff war, but claimed that the person who “tied the bell” should be ignorant.
Expressing the desire of Beijing for the conversation, the Chinese Commerce spokesman. He urged the US to immediately stop its maximum pressure strategy, force and blackmail, and resolve differences through equal dialogue based on mutual respect.
On Wednesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lynn Gian said that if the US really wants to resolve the issue through dialogue and conversation, it should stop excessive pressure, stop threatening and blackmail, and talk to China on the basis of equality, respect and mutual gains.
China has also appointed Lee Chenggang as its new international trade representative in the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Meanwhile, Trump also expressed optimism that an European Union-American trade deal could be worked as he welcomed the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the White House. Trump said that “100 percent” would be a deal.
