December 2024: Return delayed

NASA announced that Sunita Williams and Buch Wilmore would be delayed in returning to Earth. While the original plan was to return in February, the SpaceX mission was scheduled to recreate delayed, resulting in their stay extended to March – April, according to NASA.

February 2025: Sunita Williams ‘abandoned’?

In February, US President Donald Trump claimed a true social position that Sunita Williams and Buch Wilmor were virtually left in space. However, astronauts pushed back on the President’s claim, stating that they ‘did not get stuck.’

Sunita Williams and Buch also confirmed that they would return to Earth when SpaceX would launch their dragon capsules on March 12.

March 2025: Sunita Williams to return home

NASA officials announced on Saturday 8 March that Crew 9, including astronaut Sunita Williams, Buch Wilmor, Nick Heg and Rosmosmos Cosmonot Alexander Gorbunov, which will return only after Crew 10 is launched in space.

NASA said that if the conditions are not favorable for crew 10 launch on March 12, there are opportunities for launch on March 13 at 7:35 pm and on 14 March at 7:04 pm.
