RRB NTPC Exam Date: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is expected to announce the RRB NTPC exam dates by the end of February. Candidates may expect to release dates by next week.
The registration for graduate level posts began on September 14, 2024, and ended on 13 October 2024. For graduate level posts, the application process was open from September 21 to October 20, 2024.
The RRB NTPC selection process includes computer-based tests (CBTS) and if necessary, computer-based typing skills or computer-based aptitude tests.
The recruitment drive aims to fill 11,558 vacancies, with 8,113 graduate level posts and 3,445 graduate level posts.
RRB NTPC Selection Process
First stage CBT
The first phase CBT is the same for all positions and is conducted for screening purposes. The exam lasts for 90 minutes and has three sections:
- general awareness
- Mathematics
- General intelligence and argument
The mark of this phase is normalized, and the candidates are shortlisted for the second phase CBT based on their score. To improve their opportunities, candidates must practice previous years question papers.
Second phase CBT
In the second phase CBT, candidates are shortlisted in 1:20 ratio (20 times of vacancies) depending on their first phase performance.
This exam also lasts for 90 minutes and includes the same three sections:
- general awareness
- Mathematics
- General intelligence and argument
Those who qualify for this phase proceed to skill testing, based on the post they applied.
Typing Skill Test and CBAT
Typing skill tests and CBATs are conducted for specific positions:
- CBAT is for the station master and traffic assistants.
- Typing skill test is required for Junior Clerk, Senior Clerk, Time Keeper, Account Clerk and Junior Account Assistant.
Candidates are shortlisted for these tests in 1: 8 ratio (eight times the number of vacancies) depending on their second phase CBT score.
Document verification
After clearing the required examinations, candidates are called for document verification. The selection is based on qualification and number of vacancies. Only those who qualify in all those previous stages are invited to this process.

Finally, selected candidates should pass a medical examination to meet physical fitness requirements for their respective positions.
RRBs only recommend the names of selected candidates, while the final appointment is made by the concerned RRB.
