Banshee Stealer is a sophisticated malware which was first seen in mid-2024. It was initially identified as Stealer-as-a-Service on the Underground Forum. It was sold for $3,000 to cyber criminals to target macOS users. In September, a new version was released, which uses advanced technology to evade antivirus software. The malware uses a string encryption method borrowed from Apple’s XProtect antivirus engine, potentially allowing it to remain undetected for more than two months.

How does it work?
Once it enters your system, it very slowly enters the processes of your system and extracts sensitive data. Just like a thief entering a house, he silently steals from the system. It steals everything from your browser credentials to cryptocurrency wallet details and even macOS passwords.
It repeatedly sends fake system prompts to the user so that the user gives the password. It is built on such advanced technology that it bypasses normal antivirus systems. It puts the stolen data on the command entry server through an encrypted file.
