Hours after beloved musician AR Rahman announced his separation from his wife Saira Banu through a social media post on X (formerly known as Twitter), his group’s bassist Mohini Dey took to Instagram. The musician posted about her separation from husband Mark Hartsch.
According to Hindustan Times report, Dey is a bass player from Kolkata, who is a part of Gaan Bangla’s Wind of Change. The 29-year-old released her self-titled debut album in August 2023 and has performed more than 40 shows around the world as part of Rahman’s troupe.
Their Instagram announcement was posted jointly with Hartsch on November 19.
‘I declare that we are separated’
In a joint Insta post, the couple posted their message as a text post and image, saying, “Dear friends, family, fans and followers, with a heavy heart, Mark and I announce that we have separated. “
They said that they would remain friends and the separation was by mutual understanding. “First of all, as a commitment to our friends and family, it is a mutual understanding between us. “Although we remain very good friends, we both have decided that we want different things in life and an amicable separation is the best way to move forward.”
Request ‘Privacy, No Judgment…’
This pair will continue to work together in future also. According to the statement, “We will still be working together on many projects, including the MaMoGi and Mohini Day groups. We have always prided ourselves on working well together and that won’t stop any time soon.”
Finally, the announcement said “no judgment” and wished everyone to respect their privacy. “The biggest thing we want to wish for is love for everyone in the world. We appreciate the support you have given us every step of the way. Please respect the decision we have made at this time by being positive and respecting our privacy. We will not appreciate any decision,” it concluded.
