Interestingly, Kumar paid tribute to his parents and his father-in-law, late actor Rajesh Khanna, by getting their names written on the feeding van. “When I heard about the problems faced by monkeys at such a sacred place, I immediately felt like doing my bit. Writing the names of my parents and father-in-law on the van was an emotional decision. I think somewhere he would feel proud of me. If there was an option, I would have written ‘Aruna, Hariom aur Rajesh Khanna Di Gaddi’ on the back of the van, in true blue Punjabi style,” the actor told HT City.
Peetadhishwar Swami Raghavacharya of Shridham Ramvarnashram Ayodhya praised Kumar in a video, saying, “The path to receive the blessings of Lord Shri Ram is through the service of the devotees of the Lord. God is pleased to see His devotees being served and if He is pleased. The monkey army of Shri Hanuman Maharaj ji, the biggest devotee of God, is his devotee. This is not the first time that Kumar has come forward to help the society. Earlier this year he donated Rs 1.21 crore for the renovation of Haji Ali Dargah in Mumbai. During the peak of the Covid pandemic, he had pledged to donate Rs 25 crore in PM CARES fund.
