New Delhi. America and China have jointly signed an important agreement to provide 5G mobile phones at low cost in India. Chipset maker Qualcomm and Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi have partnered to launch a 5G smartphone priced below Rs 10,000 in India. Qualcomm India President Savi Soin, while talking to PTI at the ‘India Mobile Congress 2024’ here, said that under this partnership, the company will provide Snapdragon 4S Gen 2 processor for Xiaomi phones and later it will be given to other companies as well. .
Soin said, “We worked closely with Xiaomi to fill a gap in the Indian smartphone ecosystem where it was difficult to find a 5G phone under Rs 10,000. Qualcomm is trying to bring premium experience in smartphones priced under Rs 10,000.

He said that Qualcomm is ready for all kinds of partnerships but initially it will work to make Xiaomi’s product successful. He said, “Given the penetration of 5G in India, this is the biggest market and the biggest opportunity. We are very focused on making this partnership successful in India. Once it is successful, we will be able to use it in phones all over the world.
Although some smartphones with Qualcomm chipsets are available for less than Rs 10,000, they are older models and their prices have fallen into this category due to attractive offers. On this occasion, Xiaomi India President Muralikrishnan B said that the company will launch ‘Made in India’ Redmi A4 5G smartphone with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4S Gen 2 processor by the end of this year. This will be the first smartphone priced below Rs 10,000 equipped with Qualcomm chip.
He said that Xiaomi will target users who want to upgrade from feature phones to 5G phones without any compromise in their experience.
