Ottawa: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in trouble these days. Recently a no-confidence motion was brought against him, although he somehow managed to save his chair. But once again similar news is coming. Pressure is mounting on the Prime Minister and his office, as a growing number of concerned Liberal MPs are coordinating efforts to force Justin Trudeau to step down as Liberal Party leader.
Disgruntled Liberal MPs held a series of meetings to discuss the way forward for the party after their surprise defeat in the Toronto-St. Paul by-election in June, CBC reports. These talks intensified with the return of Parliament and the defeat in the Montreal by-election. The talks intensified this week after the Prime Minister and his chief of staff, Katie Telford, left the country for a summit in Asia.

Multiple sources told CBC that some MPs are being asked to sign their names, amounting to a pledge to stand together to demand Trudeau’s resignation. This document is not a letter to be circulated; Sources say this is a means to get a commitment from MPs to demand leadership change and to bind MPs to that goal in the event of opposition from the Prime Minister and his supporters.
Our own MPs are playing games
MPs were called to meetings in Parliament this week to sign demands for change at the top. Multiple sources told CBC News that MPs are signing a single document that is being tightly controlled. No copy or photo of this is being circulated. All sources spoke to CBC News on the condition that they not be named due to the sensitivity of internal discussions. These sources said at least 20 MPs have signed the document so far, while others have expressed their support for the issue.
