Shiv Nadar Foundation’s latest initiative, Shiv Nadar School of Law, was recently inaugurated on the campus of Shiv Nadar University in Chennai, which will launch a five-year BA.LLB program for law aspirants.
The chief guest at the inauguration ceremony was Supreme Court judge Justice MM Sundaresh along with Vice Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University, Prof. (Dr.) SK Bhattacharya, Shikhar Malhotra, Trustee of Shiv Nadar Foundation, Prof. ( Dr. Shiv Swaminathan, Dean of Shiv Nadar School of Law and Professor (Dr.) Vinay Sitapati, Associate Dean of Shiv Nadar School of Law.
Notably, 45 students have already been enrolled in the inaugural batch. Additionally, the institute has planned a batch of 120 students for the next year.

Shiv Nadar School of Law also offers scholarships to students, including full-tuition waiver.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Sundaresh highlighted that despite having many law colleges in India, quality legal education is rare, preventing law students from contributing positively to the society.
He emphasized that such a scenario should change as the legal sector deals with the issues of society much more than other professions.

Justice Sundaresh said, “Those associated with the legal profession should never forget the basic principle that they exist to serve the society and the litigants.”
Professor Sriman Kumar Bhattacharya expressed his delight at launching the Shiv Nadar School of Law in Chennai, which strives to transform aspiring law students into world-class lawyers.
He told me that the law school “combines a true-blue liberal arts program with legal studies, and the curriculum is modeled on global best practices.”

Furthermore, Professor Bhattacharya said that the professors and faculty members come from the best Western universities such as Oxford, Harvard, Yale and Princeton, and one-fifth of the faculty will be active legal practitioners from India and abroad.
Trustee Shikhar Malhotra highlighted that Shiv Nadar University Chennai is a hub of intellectual exploration and innovation, and the inauguration of the law school is poised to produce India’s best legal professionals and scholars.
Professor Shivaprasad Swaminathan said the law school will become an icon of excellence supported by state-of-the-art facilities, global faculty and student-centric approach.
