Airport News: It became very expensive to send a person to the airport with a cheap phone. Due to this cheap phone, this person not only had to face a lot of trouble at the airport, but he was also arrested and sent behind the bars. Actually this whole matter is of Indira Gandhi International Airport of Delhi. The person who was behind bars for making cheap phones had reached Delhi airport from Dammam.
According to a senior official associated with airport security, this person had reached Terminal 3 of IGI Airport on a flight coming from Dammam. While coming out of the terminal, a Custom Air Preventive officer noticed the cheap phone in the man’s hand. The dress and actions of this person did not match at all with the mobile in his hand. Seeing this the officer became suspicious.
As soon as the phone was opened, a surprising truth came out.
On the basis of suspicion this person was stopped for investigation. Nothing was found during the search of this person, but when the phone was examined, the eyes of the customs officers were wide open. Actually, the two batteries installed in this phone, which cost a few hundred rupees, were made from about two hundred grams of gold. This person had set up this scheme for the purpose of smuggling gold. This person was arrested as soon as gold was recovered from the phone.

According to a senior Customs official, smugglers involved in gold smuggling are now trying to smuggle gold not through the international route but also through the domestic route. To foil all attempts of smugglers, air intelligence teams are being deployed in the international terminal as well as the domestic terminal. It is noteworthy that recently, Customs’ Air Preventive Unit had arrested an Uzbekistani citizen from Terminal 3, from whose possession gold jewelery worth about Rs 1.80 crore was recovered.
