Tips for buying a bike during festivals: Nowadays, showrooms attract customers by claiming to offer offers worth thousands of rupees on cars, bikes or scooters. But if you are planning to buy a car or bike for yourself during festivals, then you need to be more cautious. Many times, in the joy of festivals, new customers commit some mistakes which they realize later.

During the festive season, showrooms claim to provide mobile, TV and many other accessories on the bike for free. Customers think that with so many offers they have bought the bike at a low price, but in reality this is not the case. On the contrary, showroom people charge more money from you. If you are going to buy a new bike or scooter this Diwali, then here we will tell you 10 things which you must keep in mind…

1. Manufacturing date of the bike
It is very important to know what is the manufacturing date of the bike i.e. when the bike was made. During the festive season, many showrooms start removing old bikes and scooters from their stock. Many times, such bikes are sold to customers which have been standing in the stockyard of the showroom for 2-3 years. In such vehicles, the problem of rust and parts failure starts appearing within a short time. Therefore, while buying a bike, definitely check that its manufacturing date is latest or the bike was manufactured in the same year in which you are buying the bike.

2. Confirm the price in pre-booking
Dealers ask to book the bike before purchasing it. But keep in mind that the price at the time when you have booked the bike should not be more than at the time of delivery. Pre-booking is done so that the customer is protected from future price fluctuations.

3. Price Breakup
While buying a new bike, do not forget to ask for price breakup from the showroom. The price breakup list shows what charges have been added to the bike apart from its ex-showroom price and RTO charges. With this you will be able to estimate what the on-road price of the bike will be.

4. Do PDI
It is also very important to do pre delivery inspection i.e. PDI of the bike. Many times dealers sell such bikes to customers which get damaged in transit. Some parts of these bikes are changed and sold after repairing the stretch on the paint. If any kind of dent, scratch or anything broken is seen in the new bike, then do not buy it.

5. Find out the price in another showroom
During the festive season, different showrooms decide their own offers and discounts. Due to which you can get the same model bike of the same company from another dealer at a lower price.

6. Compare bike EMI
If you are going to buy the bike on loan, then reach the showroom and get complete details of loan and EMI from the bankers sitting there. Get EMI quotations from all the banks available at the showroom and compare them. If the interest is cheap then you will be able to save thousands of rupees in EMI.

7. Don’t forget to take a test ride
You will be able to know how the bike is running only when you see it running. Whichever bike model you select, you should take a test ride before paying its price. Take a test ride of the bike for 3-5 kilometers. This will show how the engine, clutch and gearbox of the bike is working.
