Pakistan is ready to launch its first messaging application ‘Beep Pakistan’. It has been told that this app has been designed for official communication between government employees and officials. Babar Majid Bhatti, head of the National Information Technology Board, has designed the app. He said that ‘Beep Pakistan’ will be limited to government employees only to maintain privacy and secure data. However, the question definitely arises that when Chinese apps like TikTok are banned in many countries including India, how is it used so freely in Pakistan.
Bhatti said, ‘This app has been made and is already working. Its testing is going on in our ministry.’ He said that once the testing of the app is completely over, it will be launched.

“The app has been designed in such a way that it can be extended for general use,” he said, adding that depending on the future situation, it may be considered to be made available to the general public at a later stage.
When asked about the launch timeline, Bhatti said, ‘There is no fixed timeline for this, but it will be launched among government departments within the next few months. However, it can happen earlier as well.’ He further said that the upcoming new app has no competition or comparison with WhatsApp.

He further said, ‘WhatsApp is for commercial benefits, to collect your data and use it for commercial purposes. Whereas Beep Pakistan is a government communication project, and its purpose is to secure data and maintain privacy.’
Bhatti said, keeping privacy in mind, the use of WhatsApp among government employees is being discontinued and a new app is being introduced.
The government’s plan comes at a time when internet users across the country have reported facing continuous problems due to the ban on social media platform X. Let us tell you that the government banned the social media platform on February 17 after widespread protests against the rigging in the general elections.
