On Tuesday, Warner Bros. released a new trailer for House of the Dragon season 2, teasing fans about the war-heavy story in the Game of Thrones prequel series. It’s raining dragon fire and feuding factions in the trailer, which shows how the dynasty of House Targaryen is in danger as civil war is imminent – the battle for the Iron Throne. The new trailer shows the conflict between Rhaenyra Targaryen and the king’s first son, Aegon. Based on George RR Martin’s novel Fire and Blood, the new season is setting up the book’s story as the Dance of the Dragons, pitting the Targaryen family against each other.
The trailer sets the stage for the Targaryen civil war as King Aegon II takes over Rhaenyra’s throne. The Blacks, led by Rhaenyra and Daemon, plan an invasion of King’s Landing to claim the Iron Throne. Meanwhile, the Greens, who are loyal to Agon, plan a defense. The trailer shows several scenes of the future’s fierce, bloody wars and political conspiracies, as well as a trip to the wall.

House of the Dragon season 2, HBO’s hit Game of Thrones spin-off, is set to premiere in June. The new season will continue the story of the Targaryen dynasty, which takes place approximately 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabian Frankel, Evan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Harry Collette, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Fia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham is returning to the cast. Abubakar Salim, Gail Rankin, Freddy Fox and Simon Russell Beale have joined the series as new members.
The first season of House of the Dragon premiered in August 2022. It was renewed for a second season after achieving record-breaking ratings for HBO.
