How to grow lemon plant at home: Lemon is used in every house. Sour in taste, it is used extensively in lemon sherbet, salad, shikanji etc. If you go to the market to buy a small round lemon rich in Vitamin C, it is no longer available cheap. Many times, juice does not even come out from some lemons because they are very hard and dry from inside. Suddenly you feel like drinking lemon tea or lemon water in the morning and if there is no lemon in the house, you get upset. You can grow a lemon tree from its seeds in a pot in your house or in your garden.

Tips for planting lemon tree

– Buy a good quality pot to grow lemon. The pot should not be too small. There must be a small hole in its bottom so that excess water can drain out.

– You should take good quality soil. First put some soil in the pot. Moisten it by adding water. Don’t make it too wet or muddy. Mix the soil well. If seeds are planted in too wet soil, they may rot. If you use pasteurized soil then bacteria will not grow in the seeds. Also, if organic fertilizer is mixed, the seeds will also get full nutrition.

– Now put soil in the pot. Leave one or two inches empty from the top. Make a one inch hole in the middle of the soil with the help of a wooden stick so that the lemon seeds can be inserted.

– Take large sized lemons of good quality as they contain more seeds. It would be better if you put 6-7 seeds at one time. This is because sometimes some seeds get spoiled and cannot germinate. In this situation the remaining seeds can grow.

– Before putting them in the soil, wash the seeds with water to remove the stickiness. This will not spoil the seeds. Now place the pointed part downwards in the soil and the round part upwards.

– Now cover the pot with a plastic and make some small holes on it so that the warmth and moisture remains intact. Keep this pot in a sunny place. Plastic cover has to be installed to avoid direct sunlight.

If everything goes well, sprouts will start emerging from the seed in two weeks. When you feel that the soil has dried, remove the plastic cover slightly and pour water. Do not add too much water at once.

– When the sprouts come out of the soil, remove the plastic. Keep the pot where there is equal sunlight. Keep watering at a gap of every two days. As the plant grows, it will require water, fertilizer and sunlight accordingly. When the tree grows big, it will have to be taken out of the pot and planted in the ground. Many times lemon starts growing even in small trees.
