Bengaluru, April 15, 2024: Dailyhunt, India’s #1 local language content discovery platform, today unveiled the findings of its comprehensive “Trust of the Nation 2024” survey. The comprehensive online survey conducted through Dailyhunt in 11 languages including English, Hindi and major regional languages garnered responses from over 77 lakh participants across diverse demographics and is providing valuable insights about public sentiments ahead of the 2024 general elections. The survey, which aimed to understand public perception about the performance of the current government, found 61% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the current administration led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Notably, 63% believe that the BJP/NDA alliance will be victorious in the upcoming general elections.
Key findings of the survey include:
2024 election emotions
o Three out of five respondents (64%) are in favor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi remaining Prime Minister; 21.8% respondents are in favor of Rahul Gandhi
o Almost two in three respondents (63%) believe that the BJP/NDA alliance will win the upcoming elections
o PM Modi is the leading candidate in Delhi by securing 57.7% votes. Rahul Gandhi got 24.2% votes, while Yogi Adityanath got 13.7% votes.
o In Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi was the top choice for this year’s election by securing 78.2% votes. Rahul Gandhi got 10% votes.
o PM Modi emerged as the leading candidate in West Bengal by getting 62.6% votes. Rahul Gandhi got 19.6% votes, while regional leader Mamata Banerjee trailed with 14.8%.
o In southern states, the picture is more nuanced:
- In Tamil Nadu, Rahul Gandhi is leading with 44.1% support, while PM Narendra Modi is behind him with 43.2%.
- However, Kerala is seeing a tough fight, with PM Modi getting 40.8% votes and Rahul Gandhi getting 40.5% votes.
- PM Narendra Modi got 60.1% votes in Telangana. Rahul Gandhi got 26.5% votes, while N. Chandrababu Naidu lagged behind at 6.6%.
- PM Modi got 71.8% votes in Andhra Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi got 17.9% votes while N. Chandrababu Naidu lagged behind at 7.4%.
Governance and Economic Progress:
o Three-fifths (61%) of respondents expressed their approval of the current administration’s performance, while 21% expressed dissatisfaction
o More than half (53.3%) of the respondents described the economic management of the PM Modi government as ‘very good’, while 20.9% believe it ‘could be better’
o Six out of every ten (60%) respondents have said that they are ‘very happy’ with the country’s economic progress under the leadership of PM Modi.
o 63% people in the West, East and Northern regions are satisfied with the economic progress of the country. Only 55% of people in the South accept it.
o More than half of the respondents (52.6%) have expressed deep satisfaction with the government’s vigorous anti-corruption measures under the leadership of PM Modi, while 28.1% have expressed dissatisfaction.
foreign policy:
o Nearly two-thirds of respondents (64%) have rated the PM Modi government’s handling of foreign affairs as ‘very good’, while 14.5% believe it ‘could be better’
Dealing with the crisis:
o 63.6% people have expressed very happiness over the leadership provided by PM Modi during the time of national emergency, while 20.5% are ‘unhappy’ and 10.7% are ‘neutral’.
Wellness Initiatives:
o More than half of the respondents (53.8%) expressed considerable satisfaction with the welfare initiatives of the central government, while 24.9% were unhappy.
