BMW has sold a total of 22,940 cars.
New Delhi. Car sales in the country have been increasing continuously for some time. Car sales made a record in February. The interesting thing about that is that now the sales of luxury cars are increasing rapidly. Despite this, an interesting fact has come to light that the price of some cars of Fortuner, Audi and BMW is the same but there is a huge difference in sales. Compared to the sales of Fortuner, the sales of similarly priced Audi and BMW are not even half. In such a situation, the question arises that what is the reason that Indians prefer to buy Fortuner instead of buying Audi or BMW for the same price.
If we look at the sales figures, the difference is clearly visible that the first choice of Indian buyers is Fortuner, whereas Audi and BMW come much later. Talking about the year 2023, 16,277 Fortuner cars were sold in just 6 months between July and December. In comparison, Audi sold only 7,931 cars in the entire year 2023, while BMW sold a total of 22,940 cars in the Indian market during this period.

Not much difference in price
If we talk about the price of all three cars, there is not much difference. Toyota Fortuner GRS 4X4 Diesel AT on road price in Delhi is Rs 60,66,028 while Audi Q3 Sportback on road price in Delhi is Rs 62.90 Lakh. Similarly, you can take home the BMW X1 in Delhi for Rs 56.31 lakh. Obviously there is no significant difference in the prices of these three cars, but the sales are completely opposite.
Why so much difference in sales?
When we set out to find the reason for this difference in the sales of Audi and BMW cars compared to Fortuner, some facts became very clear. When we analyzed these three cars on only two parameters, the whole matter became clear. Firstly, by just assessing the service and secondly the price of tyres, the whole picture becomes clear and the reason for the disillusionment of Indians also becomes known.
Difference in service cost of all three
First of all let us talk about the service cost of these three cars. While buying a car, Indian buyers also keep a close eye on its annual service cost and in this case, Fortuner is much cheaper than the other two cars. According to the official website of all three car companies, the first service of Fortuner is done at 10 thousand kilometers, which is free. That means the customer does not have to spend any money on the first year of service. The company claims that the total service cost of 5 years comes to Rs 31,722.
In comparison, when we look at the service cost of Audi, according to the company’s official website, the annual service cost of this car comes to 20 to 30 thousand rupees. That means in 5 years you will spend Rs 1 to 1.5 lakh on service. On the other hand, the service cost of BMW will also be around Rs 25 thousand every time. This means that in 5 years you will spend at least Rs 1 lakh on service. The matter is clear that Indians save Rs 70 thousand to Rs 1 lakh in service only.

Difference in tire price also
The second parameter we have taken is the price of tires of these three cars. Let us assume that within a year or two, due to some reason, your tires get damaged and there is a need to replace them, then how much difference will there be between the three cars. If we talk about Fortuner, its top quality tires will be available for Rs 12 thousand. On the other hand, if we talk about Audi Q3, its tires start from Rs 7,550 and go up to Rs 27,590. That means top quality tires will be available only above Rs 20 thousand. Same is the condition of BMW, which starts from Rs 12 thousand and goes up to Rs 30 thousand. There will be a difference of Rs 60 to 80 thousand in changing all four tyres.
