Dissociation is the state where we feel that we are separated from our feelings. We also feel disconnected from our physical state and have difficulty understanding how we are feeling. “Sometimes when you experience trauma, chronic stress or other overwhelming emotions it doesn’t feel like your body is a safe place. And while some people find that they become overly alert and hypersensitive to their bodies, Others enter a more stable state and experience disconnection, dissociation, and faulty intersubjectivity,” wrote therapist Rebekah Ballagh.
