62 students from all categories enrolled in the ‘Super 100’ programme run by the Haryana government in collaboration with NGO Vikalpa in Kurukshetra (earlier operated from Rewari) cleared the engineering entrance exam JEE Advanced and 90 students cleared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the national exam for admission to MBBS and BDS programmes across the country.
Naveen Mishra, head of the ‘Super 100’ programme in Kurukshetra, said students are consistently performing well in the JEE Advanced and NEET exams and the next two years will see impressive results on the ground.
He said, “126 students had registered for the JEE exam, out of which 62 students have cleared the JEE Advanced exam and the rest have cleared the JEE Main exam. Those who cleared the Advanced are likely to get admission in IITs and those who cleared the JEE Main will get admission in NITs.”
He further informed that a total of 90 students had enrolled for the NEET exam and all of them have passed the exam, with about 30 students scoring more than 600 out of 720 marks.
When asked about the future plan, Mishra said that he will work closely with Haryana government and he has shifted his centre to Kurukshetra in January this year and he will be enrolling 300 students for JEE and 100 students for NEET from this session.
Mishra said, “We admit students who have passed Class 10 from government schools. Students from poor and underprivileged sections are admitted to this course after passing a written exam. We started this programme in 2018 and now students from poor families are getting free education and realising their dreams.”
Naveen Mishra, a resident of a small village in Madhubani, Bihar, started this program in 2018 and so far five batches have appeared in the JEE exam. Mishra did his BTech from IIT Delhi in 2006 and appeared for the UPSC interview twice but could not make it to the cut-off. He is running this center along with seven other teachers.
Carpenter’s daughter scores 680 out of 720 marks in NEET exam
Raveena, a resident of Titoli village in Rohtak, said that her father works as a carpenter and her mother is a housewife.
“Our family has just one acre of land and my father is the sole breadwinner of the family. My government school physics teacher asked for my documents and he applied for this centre and after clearing the exam, I got admitted there. All my expenses were borne by the state government. Naveen sir is like a father to all of us and he gave us a family-like atmosphere there. With his guidance and support from the state government, I will be able to get admission in the MBBS course. I have scored 680 marks in the OBC category,” she added.
Ajay Kumar, a resident of Jind, who secured AIR 362 in the General (EWS) category in the JEE Advanced exam, said that his father had already passed away and his mother works as a tailor.
He said, “I never thought that I would clear the JEE Advanced exam, as my family has very few resources. With the blessings and support of the Haryana government, I was able to get free coaching from Naveen sir and stayed there for two years without paying a single penny. Students used to spend lakhs of rupees to get JEE exam coaching and we get the best coaching for free. I want to thank the state government for giving this platform for poor students.”
