Former Congress leader Kaustav Bagchi joins BJP in Bengal
Former Congress leader Kaustav Bagchi, who had resigned from the party a day earlier, joined the BJP on Thursday and vowed to fight against the TMC rule in the state.
“Today, we are happy to welcome Kaustav Bagchi to the BJP,” party leader Suvendu Adhikari said at an event here. West Bengal BJP president Sukant Majumdar was also present.
Bagchi resigned from the Congress on Wednesday, claiming “lack of respect” within the organisation.
Bagchi, who had shaved his head last year after being released on bail following his arrest over comments against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, sent his resignation letter to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, copies of which were sent to the party’s state chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. And sent it to the General Secretary. State in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir.
Bagchi, known to be a harsh critic of TMC, had opposed Congress and TMC being part of the opposition faction India.
MLA expelled from BJD in Odisha joins BJP
Expelled BJD MLA Prashant Jagdev on Thursday joined the BJP and hopes to form a double engine government in Odisha after the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections later this year.
Before his expulsion, he was the MLA from Chilka constituency.
Jagdev is the second expelled BJD leader after Pradeep Panigrahi to join the BJP this month.
BRS MP Pothuganti Ramulu, his son and other leaders join BJP
Former BRS MP from Telangana Pothuganti Ramulu quit his party and joined the BJP here on Thursday ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Along with Ramulu, his son Bharat Prasad and several other BRS leaders from Telangana also joined the BJP in the presence of senior party leaders including Union Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar and Telangana party in-charge Tarun Chugh.
On this occasion, BJP national vice president DK Aruna and party’s OBC Morcha chief K Laxman were also present at the BJP headquarters.
Former Assam Congress working president Rana Goswami joins BJP
Former working president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee Rana Goswami joined the BJP on Thursday.
Goswami, who resigned from the Congress on Wednesday, joined the BJP in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita and other leaders at the state BJP headquarters in Guwahati.
Apart from him, another leader Jayant Bora also joined the party.
