The Bharatiya Janata Party -led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has selected Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as its vice -presidential candidate for the September 9 elections. Radhakrishnan will file nomination papers on 20 August.
Radhakrishnan’s candidature comes after about a month when Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned as Vice President on July 21, opening a competition for his successor. 74 -year -old Dhankhar assumed office in August 2022 and served till 2027.
Radhakrishnan will face the candidate of India block so far in an election, in which the number is in favor of the NDA.
There are 5 reasons here why the NDA chose Radhakrishnan as his VP candidate:
1-old RSS-hand, non-dispute
Experts said that Radhakrishnan’s candidature is mainly run by his ideological anchoring.
Radhakrishnan has been associated with the BJP’s ideological patron, Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Union (RSS) since the age of 16. He became a member of the State Executive Committee of the Bharatiya Jansagh in 1974. In 1951, Sima was established by Prasad Mukherjee in 1951.
The BJP had previously chosen Jagdeep Dhankhar, perhaps due to its Jat Credit, a community who was angry with its controversial farm laws. However, Dhankhar proved not a very good option and left two years before the end of his term two years before the end of his term.

Nagendran said that Radhakrishnan’s height “was the belief of Tamil Nadu’s contribution to the nation,” thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NDA leadership.
4-strong BJP-AAADMK alliance
This step recognizes the alliance with AIADMK by identifying the political influence of the Gounder community.
In Annamalai, Tamil Nadu, former BJP president also joined the gounder background. This shared caste has an important electoral weight in the identity, and the height of Radhakrishnan is seen as a step to strengthen the gounder vote base.
