Shree Stambhewshwar Mahadev Temple: The temple of Stambheshwar Mahadev is situated on the coast near Kavi village in Bharuch district of Gujarat. Anyone can have the privilege of sitting in the courtyard of the temple and watching the rising waves of the sea. The sea is just 50 meters away from here. When the water level increases, the entire Shivalinga sinks into the sea. As the water gradually recedes, a supernatural scene is created as if Lord Shiva himself is appearing. To have darshan of Mahadev one has to wait till the sea water recedes. This place is also known as “Guptatirtha” or “Sangamatirtha”.
Mythological history of the temple
There is a myth associated with the temple. According to the legend, Lord Karthikeya Swami had killed the demon Tarakasura at this very place years ago, but after that a Shiva devotee established a Shivalinga as an atonement for killing Tarakasura and kept it here for years to please Lord Shiva. The special thing about Stambheshwar temple is that the Shivalinga of Stambheshwar Mahadev gets immersed in the sea twice a day. The sea god comes twice to anoint the Shivalinga. Shivalinga remains in sea water for 6 hours, then it remains out of water for 6 hours.

Crowd of lakhs of devotees
On the eve of Mahashivratri, a fair is organized at Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple. A fair is held for 1 month in the month of Shravan. Lakhs of devotees gather for darshan during Shravan month, Mahashivaratri, Amas, Mondays and other days.
